Trip Application

Upon registering for an info session, we will reach out with a link to the video conference & date info.

If you’re all set, and don’t need the info session, please scroll to the bottom of this page and click the Camp Application button.

For the application, campers are asked to submit references from at least one adult in the camper’s life, either in school or outside of school; this could include teachers, counselors, coaches, administrators, mentors, employers, pastors, or the like. It cannot include family.

Camper Expectations

  • Camper is motivated and willing to participate under the guidelines of Roam Wild.

  • Camper is 12-18 years old.

  • Camper expresses curiosity, integrity, and willingness to take healthy risks.

  • Camper is respectful of others and able to follow guidelines of positive group norms.

  • Camper is able to work with the physical demands of the program - i.e. willing to carry a weighted backpack, try each activity (rock climbing, rafting, etc).

  • Camper is interested in grasping a broader sense of responsibility and a larger understanding of the physical world, and is interested in acquiring greater self-confidence, know-how and leadership skills. 

  • Camper is committed to being a positive contributing member of the group, understanding that his or her commitment means full participation and completion of the program.

  • Camper has a family/guardians who supports this child’s attendance at Roam Wild.

  • Camper has a recommendation from someone outside of the family,

  • Camper makes a commitment to 5 volunteer hours (supporting graduation requirements from TX High School’s). Campers may also commit to more hours as a way to off-load trip fees. Volunteer hours do not need to be completed prior to trip dates.

 

Financial Support

Roam Wild is committed to being as generous as possible and making camp attainable for all who are interested. Therefore, Roam Wild utilizes a pay-what-you-can model, outside of a nominal registration fee. Click the link below to see our guide for families who are interested in financial support.

Family Info Nights

Sign up for one of our family info nights hosted on the first Wednesday of the month. Families can hear more about the program through our RW Info Presentation and ask questions about trip offerings, curriculum, safety, application process and fees.

Weekend Adventures

As a way to acclimate campers to (1) camping and (2) being away from family and friends, campers are asked to participate in at least one, preferably two, weekend trips to local state parks. These opportunities will take place between April and early.

Family Prep Sessions

Hosted on the first Saturday of the month, families can gather (either in-person or via Zoom) to participate in a family info session, where campers and parents can gather more information about the summer trips as well as ask any questions they might have. These sessions will be especially important for younger campers.
