5-Day Early Explorers Adventure
Day 1
Families meet early in the morning to gather and say goodbye as camp staff begin stowing gear and moving campers onto the bus. Departing around 7:45, the trip guides and campers travel to our bunk-house near Oden, AR - roughly a 4.5 hour drive with stops along the way. Campers arrive on day one and are greeted by camp staff and a whole-group introduction and welcoming from the camp director before breaking off into the smaller teams they’ll be with for the remainder of the week. The remainder of day one is spent getting gear, organizing materials and taking some time to tour the grounds and engage in some opening team-building experiences before dinner.
Day 2 - 4
Campers wake by 7:30 and are at breakfast by 8:15 before heading out for a day of fun! Experiences include arts and crafts, team-building, horseback riding, journeys to the local zip-line, hikes, kayaking down sections of the Ouachita River or heading to one of the local lakes for some swimming and intro-to-canoe instruction. Campers eat lunch each day while out and will generally collaborate to build a fire and cook their own meals. Dinner is served from 6:00-7:00 and is followed by a night hike, a trip down to the river for some fishing or just hanging out around the campfire celebrating and reflecting on the days adventures.
Day 5
Campers and trip leads hold a final closing circle in the morning after breakfast to share appreciation and celebrations from the week. From their teams head back to pack up belongings and organize gear back to the storage area before a goodbye send-off from the staff. Campers arrive back to Dallas in the late afternoon/evening for parent pick-up.
